Welcome to the NURD Lab

The group has officially launched at the University of Nottingham! Patrick has taken the “LAB NOT IN USE” sign off of the door of Lab A54, and taken temporary residence in what will eventually become the student office, while waiting for his permanent office to be refurbished.

The group has inherited a lot of useful and expensive equipment from some recently retired members of staff, and in many respects we are well set up for the future. The first, and most significant challenge is to imagine what the future will look like. What will the space need to look like in the next 1, 3, 5 years as the group grows? Job number 1 is to decide what to keep and what to get rid of. We must fight against the natural tendencies of the experimental physical chemist to horde treasures.
